MOVING. BALANCE. LIFE.
Everything else falls into place.
I’m not perfect.

However we can be BETTER than yesterday.
Step off the scale. REDEFINE your health.
After having my first son at the young age of 19 I realized early on that I would have to always watch my weight. The 40+ pounds I gained with my 8lb 12oz baby didn’t fall right off until an emotional divorce from that high school sweetheart. I found myself becoming a single mom at the early age of TWENTY (what a baby I was) and watching the scale became a part of my life.
Fast forward many years to now. After meeting the love of my life, moving to Roswell, and having two more beautiful kiddos I again struggled to lose that “baby weight”. I counted calories, carbs and points and although I would lose some weight, it seemed to always creep back. Dieting was, in fact, a way of life and I was always looking for the next one to try. A girlfriend of mine introduced me to my next “diet” and suddenly I had a huge revelation….I could be healthy…forever. I became a Health Coach through that program and helped my clients lose…literally…thousands of pounds. I was feeling successful, and proud of the changes I saw people make.
Until one day…..I wasn’t…..
Then, after years of eating somewhat “clean” (and mostly Paleo diet), while focusing solely on weight loss and scale management for my clients, I found I wanted more. More information. More knowledge. More tools to help others and more information about WHY we eat what we eat. No matter how much I wanted to ignore it (and deny it), I personally was a total slave to the scale. I managed my weight “successfully” but I was on top of it ALL. THE. TIME. I weighed very regularly and adjusted my diet based on that number…..it worked but it’s exhausting, and not a very healthy way to live.
PALEO is the way to go…..right? Clean Eating? Vegan...? Vegetarian...? ACK!
So….I decided to stop weighing and deal with whatever comes my way. I decided I was going to just eat what I wanted. I decided if I gained, so be it. I enrolled in a Holistic Health Coach Certification program, I became vegetarian….then vegan…..then…..ended up somewhere in between. I began some personal development…..and had a total mid-life crisis. What do I do? What have I been doing? IS this good? Am I helping people? How do I adjust what I’ve been doing so that I really help people? How can I just LIVE without worrying constantly about weight? I was over the weekly weigh-ins. Over the conversations about what you can and can’t eat to lose weight. No more “adjustments” based on what the scale says. You know what I mean? I was over all that stuff that totally messes with your head…and your metabolism….
And you know what happened? It was okay. It all worked out. The scale really didn’t move and I felt such a freedom around my food choices. FREEDOM to just LIVE my (pretty much…mostly….most of the time) healthy life.
So I’ve decided to help my clients do what I’ve been doing.
STEP OFF THE SCALE.
You see. It DOESN’T MATTER. Really. It doesn’t.
Together we will work on doing the things that help you FEEL healthy. And the result? You will become HEALTHY. You will lose weight. It all works out.
It’s interesting because over time I have turned into a bit of a “crunchy, granola” type person who believes in eating as many WHOLE and REAL FOODS as possible. During my trainings I have experimented with many different eating styles to learn that I feel best when eating a plant based diet. For the most part my days begin with a healthy, fruit filled green protein smoothie and end with a glass of red wine…balance, remember? You’ll hear me talk about that a lot. Balance and moderation are truly how I live. As a self proclaimed “full time vegetarian” and “part-time vegan” I find it interesting that my body actually TOLD me to eat this way and, in fact, rewarded me with increased energy and less desire for sugars and refined carbohydrates when I give it what it craves. And guess what? When eating mostly whole, real foods….my weight works itself out.
Am I “there”? Am I “done”? Nope. I believe the story is evolving as we speak. As I challenge myself, as I learn more and try other new things, I’m sure I will continue to change what I’m doing.
That’s what I love about coaching, helping people find THEIR healthiest self. It’s not necessarily the exact same as what I do, and that’s okay.
